Upgrading Capabilities
The Company has invested in new 5G Standalone Architecture to provide its users with unparalleled digital experiences. Jio’s indigenously developed cloud native 5G stack is software defined and digitally managed, with support for even advanced features like Quantum Security. Jio is deploying this on its own network which makes it uniquely positioned to offer the 5G stack to global telecom companies and provide private 5G solutions for Indian enterprises. Jio is now rolling out JioAirFiber, a unique made-for-India FWA solution that will bring clutter-free high-speed connectivity up to 1 Gbps to homes and offices. JioAirFiber will deliver fiber-like experience over the air. Jio is also enhancing edge compute infrastructure in the country with its Multi-Access Edge Compute (MEC) stack. This stack with Intelligent Edge Server Platform is a differentiated, cloud-ready solution with central management platforms driving significant savings on power costs. Jio powered the technology that enabled seamless 4K streaming of FIFA World Cup 2022, Women’s Premiere League 2024 and Tata IPL 2024 on JioCinema. Using its edge compute infrastructure and cloud native 5G network, Jio delivered these marquee live sports events to record number of users across India. JioCDN and JioAds were also used to deliver streams to end users and ad impressions.
Jio has engineered and developed JioBharat, an entry level phone leveraging Jio’s device and network capabilities to deliver digital services. JioBharat is the lowest priced, made for India internet enabled phone which would accelerate the 2G-Mukt Bharat vision by enabling existing 250 million feature phone users to transition towards digital networks. The JioBharat platform also allows other OEMs and application developers to join the vision of 2G-mukt Bharat.

Open Innovation
Jio, alongwith TM Forum, the leading global alliance of telco and tech companies, has opened the first TM Forum Innovation Hub in Mumbai, India. The Innovation Hub, the first of its kind for the industry, will focus its first efforts on accelerating the development of Generative AI (Gen AI) and Large Language Models (LLM) and Open Digital Architecture to benefit the whole industry. Click here to read more about Innovation hub .
One of the hub’s first focus areas is the application of Generative AI and LLM to priority use cases for telcos, including developing an architecture blueprint to simplify responsible use of generative AI for telecom technology landscapes, including the related challenges of security, privacy, accuracy, performance and scalability.
A second focus area will be accelerating the development and adoption of TM Forum’s Open Digital Architecture (ODA). ODA underpins the creation of modular, componentized, and reusable cloud-native software to replace traditional BSS and OSS.
Jio has been a member of TM Forum since 2010 and has been committed to open innovation since its launch. It is a signatory of TM Forum’s Open API & Open Digital Architecture Manifestos. In February 2022, Jio also became the first Digital Service Provider to achieve TM Forum’s Open API Platinum Certification to Drive Business Agility.
